TL;DR
Weak link failed near the the start of the winch launch, possibly failing because of an overspeed/rough aborted launch earlier in the day, stressing the weak link.

He attempted to make a short circuit, hit a patch of sink and crashed into rough ground. He did not land ahead, though there was room, possibly due to not wanting to overshoot the end of the runway|delay launch operations.

Very very sad, I am one of the many who came back to the sport because of his YouTube channel.
